Claussen's Burn, July 21-22, 2012On July 21 and 22, Saint Michael's and Colchester Center Volunteer Fire Company, along with members of Mallett's Bay Fire Department and Winooski Fire Department, came together to have a final weekend training at the old Claussen's Greenhouse. The building had been the site for many trainings for the three departments over the past year or so, and it was finally decided that it would be demolished.
The firefighters spent a total of 16 hours over the two days training in live-fire scenarios in various "burn rooms" throughout the building. At the end of these evolutions, the fire was allowed to grow and consume the building under careful supervision.                                 |
