Brown Ledge Campground Fire - December 2, 2012

On December 2, 2012 Saint Michael's responded into Mallets Bay with Colchester and Winooski to battle a campground fire involving multiple structures. See below for the full story covered by the Burlington Free Press.

Colchester summer camp, heavily damaged by fire, to be open in June

The wind spread the fire through the dead, dry underbrush, setting trees alight and tagging camp building after camp building with flames that burned them to the ground, according to firefighters...

The big save, and a big reason why the camp will reopen in June, is that firefighters managed to stop the fire from consuming the main dining hall, a graceful building that is a rustic, homey centerpiece of Brown Ledge Camp.
