The Fire and Rescue Experience

Students at Saint Michael’s College have many opportunities to come face to face with "real-world" problems and challenges. The firefighters and ambulance personnel of the Fire and Rescue Squad regularly face these life and death situations.

Saint Michael’s College Fire and Rescue is an independent volunteer organization comprised of young men and women students. In addition to their academic and extracurricular responsibilities, they have taken on the awesome burden of serving the public by providing fire protection and emergency medical treatment, not only on campus but also throughout a broad area of Vermont’s most populous county. With the dedication and support of the Saint Michael’s student, alumni, and staff volunteers, we continue to serve 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, since 1969.

This department is dedicated to providing the highest quality professional fire and emergency medical services and education for the campus and communities which we serve. Through its active promotion of volunteerism and experiential learning, Saint Michael's Fire and Rescue encourages the positive personal and professional growth of all its members while meeting essential community needs. Saint Michael's Fire and Rescue is proudly staffed and managed by members of the Saint Michael's College community.

IN AN EMERGENCY

In the event of an emergency, remain calm. Call 911 and be ready to provide a few important pieces of information:
  •  The address of the emergency.
  •  Exactly what happened.
  •  How many people are hurt.

Follow all of the dispatcher's instructions, and do not hang up until you have been told to do so.
