Training

SMFR believes that training never ends for emergency personnel. Our strategic training program incorporates all aspects of any incident we could be called to respond to. Through lectures, active alumni instructors, and joint trainings, we ensure that all of our members are more than prepared to provide the highest level of emergency care and service.

In order to become a probationary member of Saint Michael's Fire and Rescue, students must complete a semester-long “rookie” class, where they learn about the department and the basics of emergency medical care and fire suppression. The biggest goal of this class is to get potential members acquainted with the members of the department, past and present, as well as how the department runs.

IN AN EMERGENCY

In the event of an emergency, remain calm. Call 911 and be ready to provide a few important pieces of information:
  •  The address of the emergency.
  •  Exactly what happened.
  •  How many people are hurt.

Follow all of the dispatcher's instructions, and do not hang up until you have been told to do so.
